Preventive Health Care
Like human medicine, veterinary medicine has evolved from treating disease to the prevention of disease. The cornerstone of Preventive Health Care is the routine comprehensive examination. Since our pets age much more quickly than we do, this most important procedure should be done a minimum of 1-2 times a year. This allows us to find and correct little problems before they become big problems, identify risk factors like obesity and dental disease and develop programs to control these, as well as work with you to develop the best vaccination, flea, tick and heartworm program for your pet to prevent many serious and potentially deadly diseases.

Diagnostic Testing
If your pet becomes ill, we have a fully equipped laboratory to help quickly diagnose the problems. This includes complete in house hematology and biochemical (blood) testing equipment, a state of the art radiograph machine,
Diag Equip diagnostic ultrasonography, and transtelephonic electrocardiography (EKG). Our two Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT) are trained in all the most modern diagnostic techniques. We also use Board Certified experts in radiology, cardiology, clinical pathology, orthopedics and other fields to help us interpret our test results and develop the best treatment for your pet.

Please click on the link above to find out more information on our Diagnostic Testing Capabilities.

Hospitalization
If your pet requires hospitalization, we offer the best in patient care. From advanced pain management to oxygen therapy to nutritional support to professional nursing care, our entire staff is dedicated to making your pets stay as comfortable and as brief as possible. In most cases, we encourage you to visit your pet when you are able. In all cases, we will keep you posted on your pets progress. We understand how stressful this can be for you and your pet and will strive to make it as easy on both of you as possible.

Surgery
We offer a complete range of surgical procedures including orthopedics, soft tissue, ophthalmology (eye), cosmetic ear trims as well as surgical neutering (spays and castrations). Prior to surgery, all pets are examined by the Doctor. We offer pre-anesthetic testing prior to surgery. These two procedures allow us to select the best and safest anesthetic for your pet. Every pet is closely monitored during surgery and recovery by our LVTs. While anesthesia and surgery are not without risks, our trained and dedicated staff, and our modern equipment and procedures make surgery as risk free as possible.

Dental Care
We offer a complete program in preventive dental care including dental diets, dental treats as well as everything you need to begin brushing your pet's teeth. We also offer professional cleaning and polishing, tooth extraction, oral surgery and even orthodontics (braces for dogs!). Good oral health is just as important to the life of our pets as it is to us. This is an exciting area in which we can truly impact not only on how long our pets live, but the quality of their lives.

Boarding
If your friend ever needs a "pet vacation" while you are out of town, we offer complete boarding facilities. All our guests are housed in individual, climate controlled runs or cages and are taken out at least twice a day to our fenced exercise areas. They are fed Hills Science Diet unless they have special needs or you wish to bring their own food. Towels and blankets are provided for their comfort. For the safety of all our guests, we require all pets to be current on vaccinations including a kennel cough vaccine every 6 months.

Senior Health Care
Like people, our pets are living longer and, as with human medicine, great strides have been made in diagnosis and treatment of many of the common diseases of our senior pets. We have developed a detailed program to help better care for your friend in his or her later years. Please ask us for details if your pet has reached middle age; usually 6-9 years old depending on their size.

Behavioral Health Care
Behavior is the most rapidly expanding field in veterinary medicine. Advances in this field have made treatment of separation anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behavior, cognitive dysfunction, aggression and biting, inappropriate elimination, excessive barking and noise phobias possible. In most of these cases, behavior modification exercises are the most important aspect of treatment. However, in many cases, drug therapy may increase the success of behavior modification. This area is very complex and requires an accurate diagnosis on our part and a sincere commitment and reasonable expectations by the owner. If your pet is experiencing any of these problems or other behavioral problems, please ask us for details on how we can help.

Client Education Materials
We have committed a great deal of time and money to develop a detailed client education program with state of the art information on most of the common problems faced by pets. We can print out this information at any time. We also have books and videos covering many areas of veterinary medicine and pet care. Most are available to be checked out.

Payments
For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. We also offer the CreditCare Pet Credit Card. You can apply for this card through our office in a matter of minutes. It works just like any other credit card for pet health care needs at any participating veterinarian. For unexpected and expensive procedures, we can also assist you in arranging loans through Acceptance Loan Corporation here in Pell City.  Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made. A deposit is required with emergencies and complex medical or surgical cases. We will gladly provide you with a written estimate on request.
